Delete your Blab account
Last updated: 1 October 2026
You can delete your Blab account (provided by ZINK LABS LTD) and its data at any time. Uninstalling the app does not delete your account.
Delete in the app
- Open Blab and go to Settings.
- Tap Delete account. You can also tap Data & privacy, then Delete your account.
- Type DELETE to confirm.
Your account is deleted straight away, and this can’t be undone. If you want a copy of your data first, go to Settings › Data & privacy › Export your data before you delete.
Can’t use the app?
Email privacy@blabtalk.com with the subject “Delete my account”. Send it from the email address on your Blab account, or include your username and phone number. We’ll check that the account is yours before deleting it, and confirm when it’s done, within one month at the latest.
What is deleted
- Your account, sign-in details, profile and profile photo
- Your phone number, email address and date of birth
- Your one-to-one conversations, including the messages and media in them, for both people
- In group chats: the messages and media you sent, your reactions and receipts, and your membership
- Your stories with their media, views, reactions and replies, plus your own views, reactions and replies on other people’s current stories
- Your friends, friend requests, blocks, mutes and activity feed
- Your devices, push-notification tokens and data exports
- Your username, which becomes available to others
What is kept, and for how long
- Reports made by or about you are kept so we can act on abuse. The user IDs in them are replaced with a code that can’t be traced back to your account. At the moment reports are kept until we delete them. We’re introducing automatic deletion 6 months after a report is made.
- Contact-match data. At the moment, the hashed phone numbers from your contacts, and other users’ hashed copies of your number, are not deleted automatically when you delete your account. We’re changing this so they’re deleted with your account. Until then, email privacy@blabtalk.com with your phone number and we’ll delete them.
- Mentions in other people’s activity feeds, such as “accepted your friend request”, currently keep your name after you delete your account. We’re changing this so they’re removed with your account. Until then, email privacy@blabtalk.com and we’ll remove them.
- Group settings may keep your internal user ID, for example as the group’s creator, but not your name or profile.
- Recovery and logs: deleted files may stay in our storage provider’s recovery area for up to 7 days, server logs are kept for 30 days and crash reports for up to 90 days.
- Legal reasons: we keep information for longer only if the law requires it, for example if it’s needed for an ongoing investigation.
- Copies other people made, such as screenshots or saved files, are outside our control.
See our Privacy Policy for more about how long we keep information.
